Greenland Thaw May Replace Dog Sleds With Oil Drills
Deputy director of Greenland's Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum, said there may be more oil there than the entire past production of the North Sea. Friendly Colombia sitting on big oil reserves
Colombia's heavy oil area could hold 20bn barrels of recoverable resources, giving the country greater reserves than leading producers such as Mexico and Algeria, its natural resources agency said. Nigeria risks losing a third of its oil output by 2015 unless it finds ways to boost investment in joint ventures with foreign energy companies, an internal report by President Umaru Yar’Adua’s energy advisers warns. Oil price climbs on UK pipeline fears
Oil prices rose above $119 a barrel as oil giant BP prepared to shut down a key North Sea pipeline and a strike at Exxon in Nigeria disrupted production. BP's Forties pipeline, which provides a third of the UK's daily oil output, will close if a two-day strike by refinery workers goes ahead. US light crude rose $3.15 to $119.21 a barrel, but later settled at $118.52.

Saudis to boost oil output after US pressure
Saudi Arabia said on Friday that it was increasing its oil production to its highest level in two years, bowing to intense US pressure after the price surged to a fresh record of almost $128 a ­barrel. The announcement of a boost to output by about 300,000 barrels a day came after a plea by US President George W. Bush to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh.

Oil production from countries outside OPEC is stagnating despite a more than sixfold rise in oil prices since 2002, driven partly by the failure of non-OPEC producers to deliver a lot more oil. A Reuters survey of 12 analysts put the consensus forecast for non-OPEC oil supply in 2008 at 49.56 million barrels per day (bpd), down from 50.36 million bpd estimated in the previous poll in March.

Gold pulled higher by oil after Nigeria blow up
A rise in oil prices above $133 on production problems in the North Sea over the weekend and in Nigeria on Monday when rebels blew up a pipeline, drove gold higher on Tuesday. Crude oil price rebounds above $130
Oil prices rebounded from early weakness on Wednesday and rose amid mounting concerns about the impact of high energy costs on the global economy. Richard Berner of Morgan Stanley said supply limits and overall demand growth could “easily” push Brent crude to $150 a barrel. “This will represent a supply shock for the global economy, and a big one indeed,” warned Mr Berner.
